The star wars universe is pretty fucking amazing, I did a lot of table top roleplaying in my day and star wars was the most common theme.
It's just that the movies and main comics are gay as fuck.
The real beef is in the spinoffs and side-stories of people who aren't jedi's but just regular city-goers like smugglers or politicians.

I guess I can understand liking a series because it has so much for it, but most people only like a few of the movies and say that they love starwars anyways, I dont get it

I dun LOVE starwars, but i like the first trilogy.
And episode 1-2.
