Cheat Engine

hi i was wondering if someone could help me; i can't get a CE table to work.

for recettear.

i followed the install instructions found here on the site but i can't link to it

and that went fine, the table installed (i think) but i dont know how to actually activate the cheats (i clicked [X] and change variables but nothing) is there something i'm missing?

Did you target the correct process with cheat engine first?
Also, make sure that the version of your game is the same as the one the table was made for

Which the .exe? yeah it's targeted and, as far as i can tell, it's the right version. how is this supposed to go? i click the X and change the relevant variable, ok, but is there a button i press in-game?

After changing, have you done anything in the game that affects those variables?
Sometimes changes only take an effect after it has been updated by the game itself

no the game was paused when i was altering and when i came back and seen that there was no change i didnt mess around further with it to avoid risking screweing my game up
