why don't you work in consultancy or investment banking? in the latter, you could easily get paid 10 times that amount by that age. enjoy the military showers lol

Not something that's interested me that much. I have a friend that's going to be an investment banker but I'm always been really fond of networking and servers. I'd like to eventually, even if I had to take a severe pay cut, get behind networking for eSport competitions and events like that.

doesn't seem like a good deal overall considering how little you'll be paid in military. then when you come out you're being underpaid considering the amount you could be making if you'd been in industry that time. plus i don't see the compelling reason to go to military unless you're josh and want the shower fucks

lol 'education'. are you kidding? and the benefits and money are already a non-issue given that i already stated overall you're getting vastly underpaid. those reasons are stupid for going into the military. if you told me it was your preference to do that because you wanted to play pew pew guns then that would make sense but the current reasons stated are not logical

I can't afford school and I'm not going to take loans that will take me forever to pay off. I'm doing this to go into a career field that I'll enjoy and will enjoy going to work everyday. The pay isn't the selling point for me, the enjoyment is and if I can get into the eSports sector I could give fuck all what I get paid.

how much is the salary for a network engineer? and how long does the training require
Average salary in US is 91k but in my area there are jobs at $150k but they require 5+ years experience which I'll get through the military. I figure if I just bank all my money I have from the military and not spend it, I'll have a decent sum to live off of while I look for a position or go to school and intern for a few years.

I'm going in for Cyber Surety. I go down to MEPS Aug 1st for testing/job selection so after then I'll know what's going on. My past ASVAB (and current practice scores) pretty much guarantee me to be able to get any job I want. I'm still between AF and Navy at this point so I'm having the two recruiters come together and try to get me to either one.

Ok. What did you score on your ASVAB because I'm taking mine within the next two weeks. I'm holding off on one month to train for the iron man qualification.

My junior year I scored an 82. Last time I was at the Navy recruiter they had to me a practice test (full test from a few years back) and I scored an 88 on it.

Ah ok because I'm hoping to score around 85-90 just so I can easily qualify.

all i'm pointing out is that if it's for the money then getting a degree and then working at one of the places i mentioned will yield a greater profit overall as long as you don't do a shit stupid course. but if it's not the selling point then that makes sense

In my opinion the money is simply a bonus. I'm doing it for a free education as well as the type of skills I can develop if I get accepted into the Red Beret training program.
