I thought, since a it's always 32 characters long, doesn't that mean their's a million passwords that'll work for any given hash? I thought since the MD5 only contained letters and numbers, if you make every possible 32-character long combination, you can get a valid password for any MD5 hash, no matter how salted it is.

Anyway, these numbers surprised me:

26 letters
10 numbers
32 length

So, 26 + 10 = a total of 36 letters 1 character can be

32 is the length, so 36^32 gives us how many combination an MD5 hash could be.

Well, I did it, and the result was:
63,340,186,662,973,227,706,162,286,946,811,886,609,896,461,828,096

Honestly, I don't even know how to say that number, but I didn't think a 32 character long hash can give that many results ;_;

But what if someone (like a russian) made every single 32 character combination? They could crack every hash easily as hell.

Anyway, I'm just rambling off random shit I thought of, which is why it belongs in random spam :3

Even if you could, it'd take so many years it wouldn't even be funny. Assume it takes 5ms per combination to be sent, it would take years upon years upon years to get it.

haha that is a damn lot of combinations... even going as fast as one hash per ms it would take 1.9x10^40

this is called hash collision and in fact md5 is not collision resistant and has collision vulnerabilities:

you should try to read some of those papers though and you'll realise it is not trivial to even follow the workings of some of the guys that came up with those techniques
