Short story long, Back when it was Win Vista days (the end of them) Asus offered buy the PC with Vista on it now and get Windows 7 upgrade free. So I used Vista unhappily for a little while then my Windows 7 disc came! Was cool, now keep in mind this was years ago. The disc says "Windows 7 upgrade media". But beeeeeelieve me, it is not limited to upgrades. I have used it on PC's that have no OS, it installs perfect everytime, probably used it over 20 times for friends and times I wanted reformats.

My laptop came with Windows 7 preloaded. I can completely wipe my harddrives of everything and still be able to reinstall Windows 7 legally without a disk.
I love it, though it's irrelevant since I'm pretty sure Microsoft has nothing to do with it.

Sounds like you just have a recovery partition.

I've reformatted my harddrives plenty of times, no partitions hiding on either of them. All 465 GB available on each.

Yeah my laptop came with one too it's great, they partition off like 12-15 gigs into a separate OS folder

It's not a recovery partition that allows this but the SLIC of the BIOS. If the BIOS has the correct SLIC, Windows will automatically activate. If you wanted to tinker with hacked BIOS you could make any computer have a SLP OA 2.1 and make W7 activate.

That's what it is. Oh and I don't need a disk to install windows, but I do need some way of storing the installation files in order to install it :p
So yeah, I've got a torrented version of Windows on a Flash drive, but I don't need to activate it or anything, Windows does that on its own. Also gives me a few MSI desktop backgrounds and ID images after it installs.
