Finally here. I start Monday Sterling. I'll do my first body fat test Sunday morning and my first weigh in Monday morning.

Who do you need/want those?

Need? The majority of it is protein powders. I'm a hard gainer so supplements help me maintain my gains. For the amount that's there it seems like a lot but it's fairly basic. A BCAA, Creatine, Carb, Multi-vitamin, omega 3,6,9 fats, and protein. I'm trying to gain upwards of 15+ pounds of muscle in 3 months. Between diet and lifting, I need something to help put it on. If I were just working out I wouldn't use them, but I need to gain muscle.

I don't mean to offend, but I find it idiotic anyone would use such supplements. Setting up a proper diet and letting the body do its own work seems the best bet if you want to gain and keep anything. People who tend towards using supplements do gain more tone and muscle, but the moment they stop they start seeing health issues. And those that dont look more like some sort of mutated human than anything natural (muscles that look like balls and shit).

I used to be into that stuff, but I've pretty much given up on trying to gain weight. I just eat normally and run, it's what I do best.

problem is that if you want to build muscle then you need a lot of protein for example. cooking a shit tonne of meat every day is really really time consuming. you can get the same nutrients from food but it's a lot more difficult and takes a lot more time to prepare, etc. but i'm sort of against taking supplements too (at least for myself)

I don't believe the idea is that by flooding the body with proteins means necessarily more proteins (meant to write muscle, but this might stand if theres an intake limit) (it might, I am no doctor). I prefer a balanced diet where I can tackle multiple health needs at once without flooding or exposing the body to abnormal levels. Obviously Ill probably never gain any large amount of muscle in a short period, but I prefer to let my body find the limit thats natural to it instead of forcing anything.

i agree because i'd also rather take the natural route and not get huge. but i also understand why people take supplements. i don't think it's about flooding too much. i just don't think it's good because it's sort of 'unnatural' and might have unknown side-effects at some point in the future. maybe low risk but easier just to avoid that risk all together

Right like I don't want to get huge or anything but my body doesn't gain that much muscle mass on a traditional diet. My diet as it stands will give me roughly 170 grams of protein a day, and that's throughout the entire day. My supplements will give me the same amount in huge quantities when my body needs it. I have a very strict diet I'm going on as well as these supplements. I mean they are called supplements for a reason, they aren't a replacement by any means. My body likes to be around 185lbs when I workout at a constant rate, but that took me 3 years to get to that plateau. If I could, I would do it through traditional diet and regular lifting, but I'm on a time constraint :\

I lift on and off for a few months at a time when I get bored. Been lifting in a gym since I was around 14, I had a pair of dumbbells I used since I was like 12 to just curl and do triceps and shit.
