torrents are also illegal. my friend got his isp revoked for downloading the big bang theory for me.

so if tor is similar to torrents then tor is also illegal.

gg. lrn 2 logic.

Are you acting retarded on purpose?
I am talking about the damn software. The executable files of utorrent, bit torrent, not your .torrent files. I couldn't be more clear.
Doesn't sound like you know much about software (mind as well say computers also).

He really isn't. Tor and torrent clients both have legitimate purposes. While not used often, they do.

Is TOR Browsing & the 'Deep Web' Legal?
Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

Tor is legal. This does not mean everything you can access through it legal. Just like File Sharing programs are legal, but not everything you can download with them is. Tor's "Hidden Services" (what I assume you mean by Deep Web) are, as the name suggests, hidden, which makes them hard to take down even if they distribute illegal content.

Pretty much what I said, but I mean some people don't trust yahoo answers content. So I'll give some more links.

Quote:
Has anyone ever been sued or prosecuted for running Tor?

No, we aren’t aware of anyone being sued or prosecuted in the United States for running a Tor relay. Further, we believe that running a Tor relay — including an exit relay that allows people to anonymously send and receive traffic — is lawful under U.S. law.

Quote:
Should I use Tor or encourage the use of Tor for illegal purposes?

No. Tor has been developed to be a tool for free expression, privacy, and human rights. It is not a tool designed or intended to be used to break the law, either by Tor users or Tor relay operators.

Q: Is bittorrent legal?

A: No it is not illegal
Bittorrent is not illegal. There are plenty of legitimate uses for it. For instance most of the Linux distros are distributed with Bittorrent. Patches for games like World of Warcraft use Bittorrent for distribution, etc.

However, you can also use it to steal music/movies/books/applications illegally. Bittorrent is just a technology for distributing large piece of data by splitting them up and having each user share their pieces with everyone else.

It's the stealing of material that people don't have the right to use that is illegal, not the Bittorrent technology itself.

Napster itself was also not illegal, it's just that people used it to steal music they hadn't paid for.

So, I researched. Then it was exactly what I thought it would be.

::Not reading any of the above::

Hell, even software distributions are more commonly done through torrents. Look at ubuntu, or the program floola.
