C++ is my favorite. But C# is the language I use at work.
I hate Java and would love for it to just be discontinued lol.

Personally I've only used C#, so that makes it the best, right? Lol...
Just kidding, but C# has worked well enough for the stuff I've done so far.

Mainly personal preference due to how old and dated the language is. Most collages force it onto people even though 99% of the time the students will never use it in the real world. (Not including personal projects.)
Java, my opinion, is:
- Slow
- Bloated
- Outdated and under-developed since the beginning stages.
- Hacked together each update.
- Error prone due to running in a VM cross-platforms.
It could be a great language if it got a major overhaul. Such as:
- Optimized libraries, removing redundant code, functions, etc.
- Optimized VMs creating specifically targeting platforms, rather then a all-for-one approach.
- Better structured object-oriented programming. Writing a GUI in Java is like writing a novel..
Of course, this is my opinion on the language.

It is true if you compare any language to C/C++ and assembly. Even mighty C# is slow and bloated if you compare them to assembly and C.
But it is 5 times faster than any interpreted language.

I'm not comparing it when I say that opinion. Just flat out itself, it is slow, and bloated.

And? What is stopping them from updating, optimizing, and fine tuning the language? Just because it's a programming language doesn't mean it can't be altered.

Mainly the point that each update they just pile more on top of the current state of the language rather then removing old outdated things. They prefer to keep the backward compatibility of extremely old things like various web applets. In the long run it hurts the language as a whole. Since the language is ran in a VM, the more crap to interpret, the slower the VM will be.
