Not sure about the movie but I dislike how in the overall scheme of things all three books could have been one or two less drawn out, more content-rich pieces of writing. The entire first book seemed too short in the sense that there weren't many actual developments but it focused on a short span of time and the ending left me feeling abandoned partway through

I agree entirely, and now that book one is over moving on to the broader spectrum of booj two seems out of place and is a huge turnoff.

I rarely read, so this could be affecting my opinion, I thought the book was average. I mean it was a decent read. Certainly not thrilling though.
Heard the movies were terrible.
