Bought this game a while ago, got up to the 5th gym leader and I haven't touched it in a month. This game is lacking so much content it makes me want to rip my eyes out of their sockets.
The new pokemon don't bother me at all, surprisingly. Even the stupid ones, like inanimate object look-a likes. The storyline is fine too, I guess. What bothers me the most is it's horrible hand holding and PLot driven gameplay. I literally can't do shit on my own without some fucker popping up and throwing their drama at me like I'm a superhero or something. I could give less of a shit about Bianca and her family issues. Most of the fun in the past games was the adventure. The idea of being thrown out into this vast world filled with mysterious and interesting places along with familiar and new Pokemon was just thrilling.
Also, the English is horrible. They should never have used literal translation. That's just fucking half-assed.
And the goddamn disappointing post game content. UGhjashbtjkaH
And battle animations. Why the fuck are you so pixelated? Fucking fire red looked better. Holy shit. Who thought that was a great idea?
Overall, the only good things I can find in this new generation are the better camera angles and the multiplayer additions. The world might be more interesting if you could actually explore it. That's fucking it.

I actually have no problem with Gen V. The story is actually really good, probably better than any game in the past. It has some interesting twists, and side plots. The story isn't actually done at the end of the game. It will be concluded in Black and White 2.
Also, the game takes place in the fucking metropolitan area. I live in the metropolitan area. How can this game not be awesome?
Anyway, you should finish it before judging.

It's hard to finish it when nobody is making sense.
And if I wanted to play it for the story, I'd watch the show. And trust me. I was watching the show a couple days ago and there's little difference between both storylines. That depresses me.
If you live in the metropolitan, why would this game seem awesome? If that's all you wanted to see then just go outside.
I missed having to use Surf to get to hidden islands, going into caves for the hell of it and finding a rare pokemon, or discovering the mystery of "The ruins of Alph". White is like "Nope! Can't pass through this city until you wipe up the aftermath of everyone's period, because we're fucking following you and repairing roads wherever you go".

I don't really feel like getting into it, but no, these games are not bad. They are different, but they're still pokemon games. I choose to accept that and enjoy them for what they are. If you don't want to that, fine, but personally I think you're missing out on something good.
All I think that you (and many other people) should do is play the games with more of an open mind. This isn't like Dragon Age Origins to Dragon Age 2. The changes from Gen III to Gen IV were much greater than IV to V.

You make it sound liek its hard. Nintendo puts out remakes of the most godlike versions, gold and silver, and then gives us a new version that is terrible, and even worse in comparison. Not to mention these gold and silver remakes were so god tier it has no comparison.
