Well I've been wanting to upgrade my computer but i'm not sure which component really needs to be upgraded for me to play some games with higher graphic settings (TF2 close to max with no lag, skyrim, MW3 etc..)

Here are my current specs:
:Motherboard Name - Asus M2N68-AM Plus
:AMD Quad Core Processor AMD Athlon II X4 620 2.6GHz x 4cores AM3
:Graphic Card: Nvidia Geforce 9500GT 1024MB Graphic Card
:2X2GB DDR2 800 Ram,
:4X300mb/s eSata
:2X2GB DDR2 800 RAM
:640GB, highspeed SATA2 Hard Disk.

I've heard I may need to upgrade my power supply if it's not good enough to support a graphics card/cpu, but i'm really new to this and I've got no idea how good my power supply is.

If someone could please let me know what I need to upgrade and link me to what I should buy I'd greatly appreciate it. Note that I live in New Zealand so if the website ships overseas then that'd be great.

420W. Any particular gpu that you recommend? Willing to spend $150, possibly $200.

Not sure what that is Saifallofjmr, here's all that's on the PSU:

AC Input: 230, 4A, 47 63HZ

DC Output: +3.3v 22.0A (ORG). +5V 36.0A (Red). +12V 18.0A (Yel). +5Vsb 2.0A (Purp), -5 0.5A (White), -12V 0.5A (Blue)

Fuse Rating: 5A, 250~ (+3.3V&+5V=220 Max)

Max Output Power: 420w.

+12V 18.0A

That amperage is terrible, you would require a whole new power supply.

swapping ram would require a new mobo that supports the ddr3 - and that would likely require a new cpu to go with the new mobo.

@op: id buy new parts for an entire new pc one by one when you have the money.

Start with the psu/gpu first (then you really only need new ram, cpu, mobo)

GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130750

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371016&Tpk=bp-550

I'd opt for the all at once approach. Only time I'd go 1 at a time is if it happens to be a particularly good sale/deal. Otherwise it would end up cheaper most of the time.

Edit: His board is AM3, so there is actually a good chance it supports DDR3. My guess is that he just didn't really know better when he bought it/was on a really tight budget.

It's AM2+

The IMC on AM3 cpu have both memory allocations and coding to support both DDR2 and DDR3 memory, DDR-2 at 800mhz and DDR3 at 1333mhz

TF2 is a very CPU heavy game, you won't need a super sick graphics card for it.

I've found a desktop that's at a reasonable price range for me and was wondering if you guys thought it was worth getting and if it would meet my needs in my original post http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=462070615
