>dsl router.
Are you looking for a modem with wireless or a router? Because a router does not care about dsl or cable, as they both will use a cat5 cable between the router and modem.

D-link dir-615
Wireless N and dd-wrt flashable (it takes a .bin file directly into the stock firmware to switch. Uber easy)
40 bucks at bestbuy IRL |
Need something in the UK
also maybe a bit cheaper, im a poor student
Also that router has some awful reviews :/

Cons: I have this router for almost 3vyears now an it constantly had wireless issues. I have now tio re-boot the router several ntimes a day in order to get the connection back. |
EDIT:
There cheaper on amazon, and i brought one

I have that router and honestly it performs better than a wrt54gl, has more options, supports IPv6, more reliable, and smaller footprint.
Most issues are due to user errors with hardware, or limitations of the design.
My current uptime for the router is Time: 17:33:44 up 3 days, 1:43, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

For future reference stick to Linksys, D-Link, Netgear, in that order. I find d-link and linksys are the best though. My Linksys with dd-wrt gets massive range, I can pick up my router over a block away while I walk my dog.

A new wireless spec was introduced this year's CES, called 802.11AC.
The new spec operates at the 5GHz range and can reach up to 1.3Gb/s (1300Mb/s) compare to the fastest N at 450Mb/s.
802.11AC will be compatible with 802.11N

802.11AC will be compatible with 802.11N | Fastest N is 600mbps (300+300), but that still kicks the shit out of it. I wonder how long till they go main stream. N still is becoming popular.
