Honestly, it's not hard. You can basically buy any router, preferably a dual band, at your local whatever store and if you have a computer it's incredibly easy to set up. Or you can buy a wireless modem which is like the modem and the router combined and all you have to do is hook it up, follow the instructions, and call your ISP and they'll turn it on for you. Either way the chances of finding a bad one are probably lower then finding a good/okay one.
as for the dd-wrt compatible I'm sure that can't be hard, if you have a hardware store around you they probably have multiple choices, if not there's always the internet. d-link is pretty standard and those have never broken down on me. _________________
