i want to format my external hard drive to i can put file size atleast of 6gb... so should i format it to NTFS or to exFAT

NTFS is a bigger format, and will leave you with slightly less HDD room. I think its only real use is for OS? Using FAT for your external is better.

If it's a single File then you need to format to NTFS
FAT only supports up to 4GB/file.

But keep in mind that some Devices's don't support exFAT (E.g: My dvd's usb player, my standalone media player and my tv's media player don't support exFAT but do support NTFS)

Game consoles don't always support NTFS either though, wii doesn't support NTFS but does support FAT32 and WBFS.
