|

Hey guys,
I wanted to start coding right now, but I got into serious problems.
I try to do a simple Textsearch via CE, but after I press Enter, my PC turns off immediately. No shutdown screen -> off - directly.
Then I have to wait a few sec's (~10) before the PC wants to start again.
Did someone had a similar problem like this?
Greetings

Make sure you do not have any online game running at the same time as CE
If that's not the case check your AV, or else your harddisk has a power problem triggered by writing the results, or your PSU is jst not strong enough to run your system at full speed.
Or your cpu is overheating and you must get a better case with better airflow and cooler(It's winter so radiators are on, make sure your computer is not next to one)

Hey Thanks for your fast answer.
I bought a new CPU lately (AMD 1100T), I have 3 Coolers + 1 CPU Cooler in my tower. Bios says 50°C wich should be okay.
The idea with my low PSU could be right, my old ATI died 2 weeks ago, so I inserted a NVidia 9600GT wich takes two 4-Pins.
But it's kinda weird that I can play HL2 on high quality without these crashes, but using ReadProcessMemory (CE ?), crashes my PC.
AV is Off - no online game running
Greetings

It could be it's the psu. While HL2 might not cause a direct problem perhaps a 3d game running in the background with ce's memory scanning(all cpu cores used at max instead of just 1 or 2 in the game) and diskwriting (harddisk power) might put it just over the edge
50C at idle (only 1 core) does seem a bit high to me.
also, does it shut down when just scanning step 2 in the tutorial after not having played a 3d game for at least 10-15 minutes ?

I just scanned a small application, not a game. And I haven't played anything today.
My PC dies directly after pushing enter. Like pushing the on-off button on my power supply.
I wasn't in Idle, I watched a bluray before (Wich I do very often).

make sure none of the options in settings->extra are checked.
and go to settings->scan settings and enable the checkbox to skip no_cache memory
Besides that no idea. Could be the PSU or CPU
Or you have overclocked your cpu and only CE taxes it so much that it crashes
Or you unlocked an extra core on your cpu (perhaps it was an 8 core with 2 disabled and you unlocked one or two, actually unlocking a faulty core)
Or you do have some kind of malware installed on your system that is protecting itself by killing the system. But usually only crap things like anti cheats and anti viruses do that

Hey, Thanks for your help.
I cleaned my PC yesterday, I even had mosquitoes in my case ..
Anyway, my PC crashed again and I changed a few settings in my BIOS.
I overclocked my CPU a bit. Really, just a bit. ~0.5 from 1.33 to 1.88. It was in the 'Green Range' wich should never conflict with my CPU. But it did.
Now it works. Thanks for your help again

Perhaps it's a voltage problem on your overclock. (when overclocking, also sightly increase the voltage)
But yeah, ce does make use of ALL of the cpu if it can so it's a good test for stability
