6x^2+7x>3
I know the answer is x>1/3 and x<-3/2 but I;m not sure how to get there.
I assume it's x(6x+7)>3 or x(6x+7)-3+0 But I'm not sure what to do after that. |

It's literally the same exact thing for solving equations, except when you have to switch from a negative to a positive, or vice versa, you change the sign from > to < and etc. _________________

| Yeah, I'm used to factorising like (6x+Z)(x+Y) That didn't work so I just messed around with the numbers and got: (3x-1)(2x+3) which gives me the correct X values. Teacher didn't teach us that we could split the 6x up. (What I said probably doesn't make the slightest bit of sense but I understand now ^_^) Pretty much - Tried new way not taught in class and it worked, go me. |

He isnt a bad teacher although he does make a lot of silly mistakes which is bloody annoying. I'm actually finding maths easier now that I am doing it my own way. I have decided that fuck doing it how he does it, as long as I understand the basic rules I can get the correct answer much easier. |

| visualise how it would be graphed. you know how the curve looks different for negative and positive x^2 |

6x^2 + 7x - 3 > 0
(2x + 3)(3x - 1) > 0
I think you can go from there can't you? |

Greater than

less than
This is going to sound stupid, but it helps me
GreatOR
Less thAND
So if your answers are say, -2 and 3, and it was greatOR, your answer would be x<-2 OR x>3
if it was less thAND, your answer would be -2<x<3
In greatOR, the answer is on the outside of the two numbers graphically, and on the inside in less thAND
...for quadratic inequalities of course. I use something completely different for higher degrees |

Llulul. Just wait till you have to use imaginary numbers. Shit gets confusing.
