I doubt it's going to make any difference for a while. All the maths works right now so nothing will need to be changed yet.
And this just supports that light does have a mass.

It's the fact that all the maths "work" that is scaring everybody. If this is proven true, there will be a lot of changes made. Even if it all "works" it will be wrong based on this one discovery.
Imagine nearly 100 years of advancement in this field mathematically nearly nullified.

Light is still going to be a constant in a vacuum. It's just not the fastest thing anymore. And if the maths works why would they need to change it? Just treat C as we treat planks constant (h) instead of some god of physics. (I admit, that sounded pretty stupid but I'm in a rush and I can't think of exactly the words I want to use).

The increased speed may be due to something other than light just having mass. They simply don't know yet.
It's like if your entire life you were taught 1+1 = 2(hopefully). Then suddenly your parents told you "Oh no honey, 1+1 actually equals 4." All the math you did before isn't "wrong" relative to itself, but relative to math as a whole it IS wrong.
If this discovery is proven, and that will take a few years, it most likely won't cause an entire rewrite of our math system. My thoughts are that it will split math into two sections. The simple basics like 1+1=2 will obviously not change, but everything related to light and such will have to be rewritten.
