If me and my friend both download the same version of Dead Island, then connect to eachother via Hamachi, will we be able to play multiplayer on Dead Island via the LAN option or something?

Yup, me and Apotheoun have been doing it, you'll need Smartsteam and the first update.

Edit: You also have to be in the same zone, IE, if one of you are in the city and one at the resort, you can't join until one swaps to the other.

why not just open the hosting port and give him your IP?
