It's late, and all the shops are closed, or are closing. As you walk past the various shops you look in and see the workers vigorously making the necessary preparations to close the shop.
You see a bench, and decide to sit down for a while. A couple of minutes pass and you notice the workers have stopped their activity. They are now closing the shops and you see them hurry home.
Home, you contemplate if you will ever find a place like that again. A warm place, somewhere with friends, but also a place to be alone. A sanctuary where you rest and recover from the outside world.
As you slip out of deep thought you notice that the lights in the various shops have gone out, the streetlights are now on. You also become aware that it's gotten dark outside. Just how long have you been sitting here?
Doesn't matter. Where do you want to go anyways?
Sitting in the yellow light cast by the worn-out, old streetlights you see white snowflakes falling from the sky. Is it winter? It's December. In fact, maybe tonight is Christmas Eve?
You've nowhere to celebrate it, no one to receive gifts from.
You yawn and stretch a bit. It's been a long day and you're sleepy. Maybe just a short rest on the bench? Yes. That would be nice. A thought that it might be dangerous to sleep outside in the cold slips by your mind.
You close your eyes, the eyelids feeling so heavy that you could never hope to struggle against it, and then the great darkness overwhelms you and you lose consciousness.
It's cold.
It's oh so cold. _________________

Correction.
'Home, you contemplate if you will ever find a place like that again.'
You'd add more emphasis on the home if you had written it like this.
'Home... you contemplate if you will ever find a place like that again'
This would sorta be like listing it, but thus would still feel and look better then the fail you did.
'Home; you contemplate if you will ever find a place like that again.'
Nice try though |
