| I remember watching their videos like 2 years ago and was just wondering last week what they were up to.

That's fan-fucking-tastic. I want that technology to be handed over to game developers 9 years ago.

first of all ... mind = blown
I have never seen this before... it's awesome.
but would that technology require new graphics cards that are compatible ?

| Wouldn't that mean that developers would need to take longer and the games will require more hardware to run?

1) Good luck running this with AI or online with 20 players in a FPS.
2) Good luck updating each atom while you progress farther out.
3) Good luck selling a game with this technology and expecting people to play it with a decent rig (1000 dollars rig won't even handle it).
4) If you are something like BF3, good fucking luck making something explode properly with all those atoms falling apart on impact of bullet.
Not saying this won't work, all good luck to them, but in my opinion it wont. |
derp the point is that it doesn't cost a lot of resources to render. That's the reason why it's being developed.

What they don't show is:
1) Is this a dynamic scene or is it hardcoded
2) How unlimited is unlimited
3) How does it work with animations
4) How does it work with shaders (not shading, shaders)
5) They don't mention any constraints. (Really! There have to be.)
