Anything in particular that I should be aware of when using github?
Do you have any awesome projects up?
(feel free to add your own questions and answer them.)

Alternatively:
Why don't you use git?

For concerns and policies check out their ToS and PP:
- ToS: http://help.github.com/terms-of-service/
- PP: http://help.github.com/privacy-policy/

I'd say the main thing would be that Git offers no support for free users. So unless you plan to pay and run into issues, don't expect to get any help from them when shit goes wrong.

I personally use Google Code. I mainly choose to use it over Git due to the lack of Git plugins for Visual Studio. Which ultimately lead me to stick with Svn instead. Granted Google Code does also support Git and Mercurial repository types, so if you wanted to host that way you can.

I also prefer Google Code due to its ToS and support. Plus, it being Google and given the fact that they own 90% of the internet, I feel more included to use their product as it will more then likely be the more promising of the two. Not that I have anything against Git.

If you want to check out Google Code some, Dark Byte recently moved Cheat Engines svn to GC here:

I like how Google code looks, and possibly runs (haven't tried, not expecting any difference). It's just that since Google knows so much about everyone already, I don't want to put all my privacy eggs and asset eggs in one basket.

(dunno...)

If the code you are posting is an asset why are you posting it publicly? Or better yet, using free hosting with no guarantees, backups, or support?

Not trying to fight with you, just seems like a bad reason to dislike a service.

As for you worrying about privacy, all you need is a login for Google to use Google Code. No other info is needed, and creating a new project is literally a fill 2 boxes in and click a button process. Google probably already knows more about you, then you know about yourself anyway. So you probably wont be feeding them any new information they aren't aware of already. (More of a joke lol.)
