I'd been wanting to watch Unknown for a while, so last night I decided to watch it on our 50" plasma.
All I had laying around were 80 min CD-Rs.
I looked up the DVD player manual and found it supports VCD on CD-R.
I converted Unknown from .avi to two .iso files using Avi2DVD.
I burned the two .iso parts onto two blank CD-Rs using ImgBurn.
The movie was great, but it repeatedly switched from good picture quality to completely pixelated for ~30 seconds intervals throughout the entire movie on both discs.
The pixelation seemed to be entirely random too. When I restarted the movie by accident at one point, one particular facial expression I remembered being pixelated was not.
Any ideas on what was the source of error here?

No need to do any conversions as most software support direct .avi to
disc. You can try to do is use Windows Movie Maker, Roxio, or Nero to get it done. The problem you got is caused by background programs or you doing something else as the movie was being processed.
Had experienced this type of problem before, burn the first movie from .avi to DVD using Nero and it work great. The 2nd one had the same problem that you have as I've remembered doing some other stuffs during that time.
Redo that 2nd movie but this time left the machine alone. When it's done, tired on the DVD player and no problems.

That's interesting as I was actually using firefox when making the .iso and burning it. Next time I plan on using a DVD.
