@Zach, looks like you are indeed going to need another disc.

DVD-R
DVD+R
Here's some reading up on what the difference between - and + on discs are. (Read history)

That's not at all what I was talking about. I was questioning why the alliance named themselves the DVD+RW Alliance. As in, why would they add that RW to the name and on all discs, but wikipedia doesn't have it the origin of the name. Silly.

I prefer DVD+R as once a project is finish burning, it does not need to close off the disc like DVD-R.
Let's say you burn the same thing on a DVD-R and DVD+R. Both
takes 5 minutes to complete the burn. The DVD-R however make take additional 1 or 2 minutes to "close off" the disc.

Also that RW on a DVD+R disc doesn't add confusion as when you buy them, you just have to carefully look at the label as it will clearly
say DVD-R or DVD+R.

I've had better luck using any -R disk in any number of other devices, includes CD-R, DVD-R home cd players, car cd players, dvd players, other computers. I have wasted at least a spindle or two of +R due to them not working on another intended device.

YMMV though.

I was saying the confusion would be whether it was DVD+R or DVD+RW, not DVD+R or DVD-R, and that's when you're looking at a pile of DVDs you have laying around because I think I've had that problem before. Confused

It's not confusing, your just making it too complex. Hope this may help.

All plus disc will have this alliance logo.

Ignore that as this may cause confusion for some.

Looking at the image above, both logos indicates the plus format.
The one on the left is for DVD plus disc that can be erased and reused.
The one on the right is for DVD plus disc that can only be used once.
DVD plus disc that labels like the one on the right cannot be erased.

-DVD+Rewriteable = plus format, can be erased and write many times. It will also have this label: DVD+RW, this "RW" has nothing to do with that alliance logo.
-DVD+R = plus format, can only be used once. DVD+R will also have
that alliance logo but will not say DVD+RW
-DVD+R DL = plus format, write 1 time, and double layer indicated by "DL".

kls85, I understand the difference. I'm saying I think it's confusing for any casual customer. You glance at a pile of DVD+Rs and see the RW logo, and you might be inclined to think it's DVD+RW.

It won't confuse them as they don't do back up.
It's those who knows a bit about computers or those who are willing to learn,
won't get confused between the different type of disc.
