i'm having a problem with my wifi-enabled desktop. every time i open a web browser it says dns server look up failed. i've done every thing chrome and firefox has told me to try but to no avail. (the browsers told me to restart the modem and check proxy and check the firewall exceptions) If any one could shed some light on this problem that would be great.
PS i'm running windows xp with xtrem desktop WiFi raptor as my adapter

You could simply specify a known valid DNS server ip as your DNS resolver. That should cure your issue.

http://www.mediacollege.com/computer/network/dns.html

8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 are both valid Google public DNS servers you can use.
