It used to be so easy, but with a more recent Nikon, it seems to be a pain.
Any software suggestions to use an external digital camera as a webcam on my laptop?

that's a cool idea, actually. i want to see what others have to say. I have a Digital Video Camera and was wondering if I could use it as a webcam too...

Some cameras will come with software that will let you do it. Its pretty specific to the camera type/model though. There are also cables you can buy that will do it by tricking the camera into thinking its not streaming. A fairly popular one is EasyCap.

Check your software first for your camera to see if it offers any special USB mode with the camera though before you go buy additional things.
