Depends on the RAID. Most people who game run RAID 0 which pretty much takes 2 drives and makes them one. While in RAID 0, files are split between the two or more drives so they can be accessed faster.
Well Raiding is simply getting a bunch of friends and spending 3hrs on a weekend trying to kill a stupidly hard boss and getting supah loot which lets you pwn in PvP since there's really nothing else to do now besides Raid and PvP
Raid Drives + Encoding Software = Untouchable back ups. I have a Dual terabyte raid set up so, meaning I have a teri HDD and another teri HDD. When I save something to the main, it copys and encrypts to the slave. The links posted above are very useful for understanding it also. Thought I would post a response.. seeing as I have a RAID setup.
