Wrong, the different steps you need to take to protect the folder that you install cheat engine in varies, though. First, what is your current anti-virus program?
If it's NIS (Norton internet security) 2011, open the NIS main window, and do the following steps.
> Click settings at the upper right.
> Under Computer Settings use the scroll bar until you find the "AntiVirus and Sonar Exclusions" section.
> Push the configure button next to the line that reads "Items to Exclude from Scans."
> Push add in the new window.
> Go to Drive C, program files (x86) or wherever you installed it, select the folder, make sure "Include subfolders" is checked, and push Ok.
> Push Apply.
> Repeat the last three steps, but instead, push the configure button next to the line that reads "Items to Exclude from Auto-Protect and SONAR protection."
> Reinstall cheat engine in the excluded folder, place shortcuts to the folder on your desktop for ease of access.
> You can also place any items that Norton will block inside a folder (a sub-folder) inside the CE folder, and Norton will not block them. For example, the Adobe download of the TDP4 Client is also blocked by NIS 2011.
