I want to at least TRY an rts before saying I hate them. I was thinking of getting Starcraft 2, but I'm still not sure. Are RTSs even fun?

try SC2 campaign but first get a sum up of the sc1 and brood war story.
you will enjoy it if you like sci-fi

or you can also start with one of my favorite TBS(Turn Based Strategy)
Heroes of might and magic 2 (( which is pretty old but good ))

Not really, I mean they're all the same pretty much.
Try a WC3 mod for free first before buying SC3.
I mean they aren't totally the same but they are similar so if you don't like one you probably won't like the other.

RTS is just like any genre, you have to find the right one for you. People who say they're all the same are just ignorant. Ones you should give a try are WC3 (warcraft 3), AoE2 (Age of Empires 2), and RA2 (Command and Conquer Red Alert 2). All very good RTS IMO.
