I was not using Antivirus software the past 6 months. Now I bacame more aware of that online protection issue and It's hard to get rid of this infections once they're already running in the computer. So the best way to avoid is to download a good anvitirus software I use ZenOK Free Antivirus and follow the updates and virus remove scanner.

i think i've been infected once in the last decade from what i assume was a rogue advertisement, it was that win-anti vir shit and was immediately detected. i took it as an excuse to reformat anyway.

I use WinPatrol. Lets me choose what to allow and disallow.

Even legit programs will often install unwanted IE helpers and auto-update services, which antivirus programs don't detect because the software is not malicious.

I use one of the crappy norton ones, used to use AVG but it makes your computer so slow with the constant scanning :/

Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 is great. I also use spybot. Kaspersky only costs like $80 for 3 years, so its very cheap.

Avast is the best anti virus. I am also using this.
