L4D2 is shit compared to L4D. It's not scary in the slightest, its just a "funny" fps.
Note: It's not funny.

HL2 is a load of fun and its got a good storyline.

Unfortunately, L4D2 will get you a lot more played time than HL2 though due to multiplayer. So buy L4D2, you'll get "more for your money". Not because its better, but because you'll play it more.

I was thinking of going for HL2 & all the expansions but there are quite a few and I don't think I have THAT much free time on my hands..

L4D vs L4D2 is a hard decision, I could buy both but then again I don't have too much time to play games, I have read from some places 1 is better than 2 and vice versa so it's a tough one..

L4D is much more fun, but the community isn't too active any more since L4D2.

HL2 and expansions aren't TOO long, you'd be able to complete them in 10 hours imo.

HL2 if you don't already own a source game for some reason. Then you can use all the awesome third-party mods.

decided to go for L4D2 & DA2 for now and will get HL2 in a few days if i'm not satisfied! Very Happy

I must say that DA2 is quite bloody amazing!! I played DAO a while back but I never like it, it seemed too westernised for me but I decided to give DA2 a go after seeing my friends liked it more than the original and wow it's MUCH better than the original, how they made such vast improvements in such little time I do not know, feels so much better though shame about the shorter story - but who cares.

A good game with an OK story is better than
an annoying game with a quite good story Very Happy

Still downloading L4D, I cannot wait!! last time I played a proper FPS was like 6+ years ago ROFL!

oh and can I "give" someone my TF2 or is it stuck on my account forever? I'm not saying it's a bad game..

No games are scary.
HL2 is a great singleplayer game.
L4D2 is a great multiplayer game.
But TF2 is better than L4D2 so get that if you don't have it.
