Wow, taken COMPLETELY out of context. In that same letter, Einstein also wrote:

Albert Einstein wrote:
"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can change this"

Please tell me this is a joke. Because anyone who knows a damn thing about science would just simply laugh their ass off. Nearly every single point is either a play on words, or just simply wrong. I'd love to refute 101 arguments, but it'd be way too long so, please, pick a few good ones and I'll point out their flaws. Smile

Edit: actually, here's one I like:

"The First Law of Thermodynamics established (Genesis 2:1-2). The First Law states that the total quantity of energy and matter in the universe is a constant. One form of energy or matter may be converted into another, but the total quantity always remains the same. Therefore the creation is finished, exactly as God said way back in Genesis."

The explanation to this is extremely simple, and can be explained mathematically. In the beginning, there was nothing. Nothing was all there was.
What does this mean? Well, it's obvious: there was an infinite amount of nothing.
Now infinite is a complex idea. It is neither small, or large... it is infinite. This infinite amount of nothing was unstable. Quantum fluctuations caused this infinite nothing to split into infinite, equal parts of positive and negative energy. Through well-understood processes, this energy turned into matter, which formed into stars, which grew into galaxies, which formed planets, which spawned life. It is a simple chain reaction, which all began from nothing. There is no need for a deity... you have nothing, and quantum fluctuations produce a universe.

Yes you say Infinite as it has no limits, BUT wouldn't the universe have to be infinite itself?

The universe is infinite.

Did you think you could look at a certain direction in the sky and say "that's the center of the universe"? Of course, the universe could be finite and not have a center -- this is called a closed universe. But we've proved that's not the case... it is simply infinite (flat universe).

WAIT! If its infinite, then... What is the universe? Is it EVERYTHING???

Or is it just 1 thing? Because if the universe is infinite, how are there multiple universes? Wouldn't they collapse upon each other?

Think about the word.

Uni - one
Verse - Word/phrase (adapted in this definition to just mean "thing")

It's just a word used to describe everything in existence. Saying there could be multiple would be like saying "How do we know what we call a dog isn't actually a cat?"

Answer: because the word dog was invented by humans to describe the four-legged animal that barks, not the one that meows. Same case with the word universe. If it were possible for there to be multiple universes, you'd have to change the definition of the word (and actually the prefix uni, which would fuck a ton of words up).

I'm Christian. Sort of.

E.g. Believe in God, but it's difficult as fuck to follow the bible. |:

I love how if God did make us, how well we're designed. How everything is so intricately mixed together. How advanced are our brains? The processing power, memory.. How it works with feelings...

Just insane.

Religion is good for happiness, but not for knowledge. It is also the major start of wars.

The idea of multiverses is another idea that is not going to be proved anytime soon, because it goes against everything we think and know about science.
Nevertheless, if there are multiple universes, then each one would still be called a "universe", because that's the only name we have for describing such a thing... even though it is etymologically incorrect.

I love the fact you brought this up. One of the main arguments for creationism is how living organisms are so complex. And it's appalling that people actually think this is an argument for creationism.
If something is created artificially, such as a brick wall... it's design is inherently simple. You don't throw a bunch of bricks into a pile and call that a wall... instead, you carefully stack the bricks so that it is as simple and efficient as possible.

Nature, on the other hand, is inefficient. It is not simple... it is complex. If the human body were simple, it'd be made out of electric motors and silicon. Instead it is made out of unthinkably complex parts, many of which are inefficient and sometimes unnecessary.

Yeah, I suppose we kind of have to refer to them as other "universes" because we currently don't know enough about them to give them a proper name.

This. I remember you posting the same thing earlier and I was trying to find it so I could repost it. Your analogy with the driftwood was good, I thought.

Atheist.

I see no point in questioning things that are unanswerable.

Meaning of life, life after death, upper being. I will never know the answers, no point dwelling on it.
