Is it just me or is the forum scene dying in general? The only good forums cost money nowadays and that's probably one of the only reasons that they're still alive. Back in the day we had a bunch of crazy forums, full of crazy shit!

Eh, before people connected through forums in topics they enjoyed, now people just rely on facebook and twitter to get connected in general. Plus they offer much more immediate interactivity, with game, liking, friending, etc. I'm not worried for the forum scene, mosts professionals still use forums, hell, theres even BBS's dedicated to programming that are still around. IRC is also still here, despite that theres MSN and other methods as well. The only people that need to worry about forums are those that use it as a method for general communication without direction to professional or hobbyist applications.

They're too popular, I like imageboards, but it's just a bunch of recycled porn. On forums, I logged in, saw a new joke every so often or someone flaming someone, or someone talking about penis ponies.

I don't like getting involved with people that I know irl, I like having an online personality. I remember when you'd sign up for a forum, lurk, and make friends that you'll never forget. It was an escape from reality... a place were you could be yourself. I can't be some crazy guy irl, but online I can be some crazy, porn loving, freak..

People do the same thing with facebook, they just want to have a large friends list, internet personality is no personality, you just do whats popular. But I do know what you mean, that was the original charm RS had for me.
