^ I agree. Some people in this topic are some how... trying to compare common logic to ideal creation and invention.
Just remember, logic is expanded by imagination.
Who cares if math is perfect, Physics is perfect too, its just more complex.

As the others have already said, there will always be newer technology because it's normal for the human to always want better things.
Better graphics require better processors, which require better chips.
It's true that the size can't get smaller at a certain point, but I think the chips will be made of other materials by then.

I heard that they are experimenting with living tissue as it is good for forwarding information. Binary system is used in living organism as well just as in computers. And as I know, some specific tissues are damn fast in forwarding info, much faster than today's electronics. I don't have the slightest idea how well they are advancing though rumors on the streets are, there is some working stuff already. I am very curious about it but of course this is not something that they will just publish on the internet.

Yep, that is huge. But it seems to be also true that the speed of information in living tissues (in some tissues) is close to light speed (some say that photons in plants are travelling even faster than light and they have no clue how is this possible). So there is enough mistery to solve and I wouldn't be surprised if the future's computers would contain organic parts. Making advanced implants is half-bio stuff anyway as they connect electronics to living tissue again so it isn't so unimaginable that they can improve this technology.

I heard this from a guy at Intel more than about 6 years ago. Actually he said they have working organic super computers but I say "seeing is believing". The idea is based on facts but damn if they really exist, I want to see one so badly.

Intel apparently has ridiculous shit going on at their HQ. My friend's dad has a business meeting and he got to go in and apparently he had to wear a special sterilized lab uniform and had to go through this entire cleansing process just to get in so that they could maintain a something like 0.00001% dust content or something crazy like that.
He probably saw something like amazing (like an organic supercomputer) and had no idea because he's pretty computer illiterate.
Honestly, it's probably like the motherfucking Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory for computers.

Yeah I can easily believe that. I never had the chance to see something from here (far from the "civilized" world), but I have seen some crazy stuff even here with other (smaller, unimportant) companies. It is not surprising that top scientists are working on stuff that we will not see for another 30-40 years. They do that with every stuff, damn secrecy everywhere. Why do we always have to wait 2 generations to see what was going on in our young ages?
The best thing is that we think about something new that "wow this is high tech and awesome and everything" while they just laugh, because it was developed 20 years ago. Seeing how much time does it take for an invention to get to the public, I feel like an idiot who is still using stone axe even though scientists have fine chainsaw's already.

this is nothing out of the ordinary to be honest, every hardware manufacturer probably has a clean room.
no company wants to be completely incapable of being competitive. you think amd has been behind for years for shits and giggles instead of just bringing more advanced hardware out to match it?

It was more than just a clean room, it was like their entire underground complex was completely sterile.
Also, the last Intel processor I ever bought was a P4, since then I've been using an recommending AMD processors. I'm sure AMD's got plenty to match it. It's just that my friend's dad didn't go to AMD's headquarters.

Yeah, that's what I said, pretty much. But some of you guys are still missing the point.
If you read into the details of what kind of technology we had to develop in order to invent 65nm, 45nm, 32nm fabrication processes... you will understand what I mean when I say, there's not much farther we can go beyond 14nm. These developments were fueled by pure luck and ideas... and we've run out.
We combined double patterning and immersion lithography to obtain 32nm. Sure, that's fine. Apparently we can scale that down and obtain 22nm. Now even with electron beam lithography, 14nm is a stretch. Now we're talking 850 atoms wide. A human hair is one million atoms wide.
To those suggesting organic-based computers... forget about it! A typical human cell contains 100 trillion atoms, and is about 10,000nm wide. A modern CPU is like a metropolis city smaller than a hit of acid. The details are unimaginably small. The smaller they are, the faster data can travel, the less electricity they use, the less heat they produce... but you can only take this so far. Eventually, improvement will be bounded by the laws of physics and chemistry... and we're somewhat close to that point.

I am not sure that just because we don't know how to develop more advanced stuff, a few billion dollars and some top minds cannot come up with something new. Saying it is not possible just because we don't know it is a bit ignorant unless we are in possession of the latest not so public developments and we have a top paying job as a super-mind scientist. As I am not one of these guys, I am pretty sure that there is lot more behind the curtain than we think. If you work even for a small company, you will need to sign tons of contracts to keep the secrets or they will just sue you until you die. I bet they are not doing this to just announce the latest technology for everyone. It is cool and everything to come up something new but corporations are not horny teenagers who are trying to impress a girl. They are planning on long terms and it is pointless to give more info for us than what is needed to buy their CPUs.
Their public stuff is one thing that is needed to keep the company alive, but they have no reason to share more with you unless they feel the time has come to make profit from it. Companies aren't open books, they are full of security protocols. Anyone who worked for such company knows that.
Basically we don't know shit about the whole thing and none of us have any idea what is the latest, most advanced technology. Usually when something become public, it turns out they have done it like 20 or 30 years ago so we are pretty much clueless about the whole stuff. But why should we know it? They won't make more money if we know it, it is just a potential threat to them because maybe someone will steal their idea. And companies are caring about one thing only and that is money. They have been founded to make money, not to impress us or keep us happy. Unless they will need to share info with you to gain profit, you will know nothing as it is against their whole business policy.

Hahah we are near nothing the laws of physics and chemistry! Obviously there has to be something deeper than PHYSICS itself.
And, if we are near it, why don't we have these weird subatomic light particles blah blah for computer chips... Don't assume the possible just because imagination in current inventions isn't as such!
