My video card (Sapphire HD 4870) only has 2 DVI output ports, and my new monitor supports HDMI. So my question is; if I buy a DVI -> HDMI cable, will I still have the same DVI quality or will I have the full HDMI quality?

It doesn't make a difference. You will get the same image quality, which is to say, not better or worse. The only difference that HDMI offers is the ability to carry sound, which doesn't even matter unless you're using speakers from your monitor.

They are the same quality. The difference is dvi carrys analog and digital, and hdmi does not.

depends apon the output of your graphics card

by that i mean the max resolution it can output if it can output 1080p then sweet but like my old pc with a 8800gt that goes to my tv with a dvi to hdmi cable and that transfers at 756p or something like that

it also depends apon the max resolution of your monitor and tv luckily my new tv is a sony bravia full Hd tv
