How do I cheat?

Hi everyone.
I have been trying to use cheat engine for the steam version of Divinity 2: The Dragon Knight Saga. I have found the address for Health and "Frozen it", changed it to only allow positive changes and even changed the value. Yet, every time I try something, the game refuses to respond. The address is correct, mirroring my health bar, but I seem unable to affect it in any way.
Is this Steam's problem or am I missing something?

perhaps you only found the visual representation of the health (e.g you found the healthbar instead of the actual health)
Does it have an effect when you change it? E.g low at life, change it to full and get hit, it's back to the original minus the new damage?

It did not.
Apparently it was only the visual representation. Upon later scanning I discovered it was under "Floating" values, not 4-Byte.
I really feel like this was an ameteur mistake. I apologize for any wastes of time on this issue.
