This only recently began with a few games that I've tried running for the first time. As in, I pay for the game, download/install it, try to run it but an error pops up. I tried Googling but all I could find was other people complaining about it and a Hotfix for Windows XP.

reinstall the c++ runtime library and/or validate the game files.
