|
|
I need to send some documents, but I can't allow the receiver to edit them.
I know there are programs like .pdf Editor, but I think this format would be best for them, considering how most people have Adobe on their computer.
So which program/what should I do to turn my Microsoft Word 2007 document into a .pdf? Free or paid, I'm fine with either, although I would prefer free :P
Thanks!

You can edit .pdfs with Adobe... (I'm probably wrong, but...) you can edit any file so long as it's on your PC and isn't encrypted/compiled from a source - take a screenshot of it and send them a picture?

Oh.
What's the purpose of using a .pdf rather than the actual document?
Just for neatness?

It's more or less like choosing a picture file format. Some use png, others like jpg. Same goes for this. Also, you can save .docx files as PDFs

Microsoft Save as PDF or XPS plug-in for Office 2007. Use the Save As dialog as seen above.
PDF is convenient if you have some specialty fonts that you want working on Macs since Office Mac doesn't have font-embedding while PDF has that function on both Windows and Macs.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/
PDF Creator works as well. Adds a printer will allow you to create the document in anything, and just prints it out to a PDF file. Works with documents and also graphics programs. Just prints them out as PDF as well.

Though you can save your file as .pdf in MS word 2007 easily, the converted files always dicard layouts and other things.
Try Nemo PDF Converter, it can help convert document files to PDF easily with text, layouts, tables and images preserved accurately. And it also supports batch and partial conversion.

PDF files can be edited if you got commercial based software.
The best way IMO is to just password protect that document and set it as read only.
I believe there are two password you can set. One is for the administrator so it can be edited. The other you set is for read only.
And If I remember correctly, if someone tries to edit it, it changes will be shown on the document itself.
