if you go into the minecraft files, and look in the mobs folder

theres normal mobs, pigs, sheep, cows, chickens, skellies, zombies, creepers, spiders, ghasts, slimes ect
but
there was also one thing
pig men
now this wasn't the nether pigmen
because the nether ones had deformed bodies and armor and stuff
these were pretty much revised pigs
now if you go to the blog
notches tumblr
he said that with beta
a new super duper rare thing came out
supposedly, no one has found out what it is
but

I think
it's possible
that
EVERY 1/1000 PIGS TURN INTO PIG MEN

what I was thinking too
couldn't find any eggs when I was playing yesterday, but i'll go to single player and invedit in thousands of eggs to test this

edit: confirmed, about 1/8 chance
