90% of the stuff in the BIOS you don't need to know, just look around a bit. Pretty much the most important things you're gonna want to look for is the temps just to see that everything is working well at regular temperatures. Apart from that, there's really not much to it. Everything should be set to a configuration that will work by default, so you shouldn't have to configure anything in the first place.

90% of the stuff in the BIOS you don't need to know, just look around a bit. Pretty much the most important things you're gonna want to look for is the temps just to see that everything is working well at regular temperatures. Apart from that, there's really not much to it. Everything should be set to a configuration that will work by default, so you shouldn't have to configure anything in the first place. |

The initial release of Intel Sandy Bridge will not replace socket 1366, instead it's going to replace the mainstream socket 1156.
The high-end version of Sandy Bridge won't be out for a while longer therefore socket 1366 still has some life in it.
Intel Sandy Bridge replacing socket 1366 will run on socket 2011.
Socket 1156 gets replaced by Socket 1155
Socket 1366 gets replaced by Socket 2011

The definitely was to lasting 4-6 years.
Saif, I already responded to you once but apparently you ignored it. Even though the release of Sandy Bridge will technically make 1366 "outdated," it's not going to magically make everything that has been running on 1366 not work anymore. It's still going to have the same performance as it does now, and the performance it has now is plenty to be able to play the newest games very well for another 4-6 years.

I didn't see it, my apologies. My definition of "outdated" is your definition of my term EOL*. Outdated means that it is not the newest*. So you are true and also wrong at the same time due to a simple misunderstanding. I honestly think it would be better for him to wait for 1155 as it will natively support USB3.0 but also remember SB will only allow for overclocking via multiplier on the more expensive chips, the flag shippers.
EOL= End of line. Will not the main stream "parts"

If OP needs it now then just buy it, skip Sandy Bridge and upgrade when the next generation of CPU arrives.
Also the "unlock multipliers" isn't a flag ship feature anymore.
Current socket 1156 CPU already have the unlock multiplier in their "K" CPUs and this will be carried on over to the SB.
CPUs will cost a fraction of those Extreme Editions

You can not overclock the core clock, as it is all linked (usb and pcie i think) so only multi will work for overclocking.
