My mind is full of fuck, I don't know if I really understand what just happened. Aliens created humans and then the aliens died?

"WHAT THE FUCK?" Is the last thing Desmond said before the credits, It is exactly what I said also.

I forget the order of the ending, isn't there more after the credits? Where Vidic finds the base? Or is that before the credits?
Also, just so you know, after you beat the game and finish all the crypts, there's practically no gameplay left.

The game is about the Templars gaining control of the pieces of Eden. The assassins are decendants of "the people who came before" which were more advanced than the human race but few in numbers. The humans killed off the "aliens" so they could be free of their control. Before they were killed few of the "aliens" mated with humans so that their race could live on. This explains the eagle vision. The assassins know where each piece of Eden is and the Templars want to find it by force and take over the world.
Need I to explain desmond's role in the story?
