Cheat Engine

I have tried till i’m nutty to do the mana hack on GEMCRAFT the FORGOTTEN (ver. 1.11A) with the CheatEngine 5.6.1. the exact steps and settings i’m using are;
1.) start game
2.)add 1 point to first skill
3.)load browser into CE process. (I’ve tried firefox and IE)
4.)set scan type to exact value and value type to 4 bytes (8 as first value scan) which returns a ton of address
5.)back to game add 1 skill point (now 2 points)
back to CE and type 16 in value scan nothing returns.
It’s like the CE and browser aren’t communicating. I’ve beat the game before but the hack is so cool. Any Ideas???
