hi. i recently download cheat engine 5.6.1 or whatever the numbers are. i couldnt get it to hack into anything at all. not even the tutorial that comes with it. so i tried the 5.5 version which ive never had a problem with and it wont work either. when i say it wont let me i mean this. i click on the process or program. it will come up and being accessed. this i type in the number and nothing happens. i just hear the beep and thats all. im running windows 7 home premium if that matters but i once had it with this os before so it shouldnt. this is really frustrating me so if there are any settings i should change please let me know. thank you

See if disabling your anti virus/internet protection helps

And make sure that you don't have any multiplayer games running in the background

Multiplayer games tend to infect your computer with mallware that prevents Cheat Engine from attaching or reading memory, even if it is just the tutorial

So if you have such a game running, it might be interfering with CE

ok i disabled the anti virus and it worked but is there another way to do this without having the anti virus disabled. im running kaspersky internet security 2010 if that matters

somthing else i noticed is that the icon for the game doesnt appear next to the process. might that be a way for you to find out whats wrong. i went on the kaspersky site and looked in there forums. they pretty much said you have to tell kaspersky to accept all instances of that program. but it didnt say how. lovely
