So I have a legitimate copy of windows 7 home premium, and I installed the 32 bit version. Now I am wondering if I can easily upgrade without any data loss.
Cheers.

32bit cannot be upgraded to 64bit, you will have to do a clean install.

You can just install the 64-bit version next to it (on another partitition/disk)
Then you can use Windows Easy transfer on the 32-bit version to create a file that the new 64-bit one can load and it'll import your e-mail, favs, and program settings

As KLS said, you have to do a clean install. I reckon you save all your needed files (e.g. pictures, music programs, etc.) wipe your HDD clean and do clean install.
