I usually download all my music as 320 kbs. Today I noticed one of my favorite albums was 128 kbs this whole time... I downloaded a new rar with 320, and when I listened to it, I didn't really hear a difference. 
So, I took this test:

| Think you can only hear the difference when you put the volume real high, and/or when you listen to it through headphones.

I can tell the difference.
Some can, some cant.
I download albums in FLAC if possible , just for the sake of it.
320 usually sounds better to most people vs 128 though, but noticing the difference of mp3 and flac most do not notice, and you would need expensive equipment not to be full of shit

This, also the difference can be heard better when there are louder instruments integrated into the song. Even with regular equipment.

I could disagree with that .wav is uncompressed but still it depends of the bit rate, sample interpolation, depth and some more variables.
uncompressed is not always better.

wav is microsoft encoded, flac is 3rd party encoded.
wav CAN be lossless like flac, but then it takes up shitloads of space.
Like when I finish producing a song and render as wav (16 bit not even 24 bit, which is even higher) it will be anywhere from 20-100mb.
FLAC achieves the same quality for a quarter the filesize, so it's more efficient.
And usually wav isn't lossless, you'd have to know what you're doing.
