When I put my computer into sleep mode, some weird things happen. It turns off smoothly and quickly, and turns back on equally fast, it's just that after I turn my computer back on, there's a bit of a catch, my screen looks like this:
Derp. There's lot's of my desktop on there, plenty of CEF, I even saw a few fragments of my signature. Anyone know what's going on? |

I have read issues like yours before but of Vista OS. There are some that triggers this which may have caused your problem. It's a case-to-case basis, but you could check on this:(can't post URL yet)

Thanks, spikerock, but those articles seem more like problems with waking up, not problems upon waking up. When I press the power button on my computer from that screen, I get the "windows is shutting down" screen, no weird fragments, and my computer shuts down like nothing ever happened.
Shota, I also spent like 1.2 grand on my computer, in fact, I wish I'd bought something a little more reasonable. I didn't have a great sense of how much performance could do what before I turned it on and thought, "Oh, shit, this is so awesome, but that was such a waste of my savings". |

If that only happens for a few seconds while its waking up, then it's nothing to worry about.
You can try the following to see if it helps.
-Update graphic drivers
-Update bios
-In bios, change the power management settings and set it to S3 _________________

I think I would definately check out that bios as kls85 suggested. _________________

| It doesn't just show that screen for a second or two. It stays there, and my computer is completely dysfunctional except for the mouse, until I press the power button and it shuts down perfectly normally as if nothing was wrong. |

I'd still do as kls85 suggests and update video drivers and double check your bios settings. Could be something spiking on wake from suspend, something throwing off voltage perhaps.
I have gotten similar issues before from video but it was due to a bad card, and I couldn't get mine to reliably reproduce it. You could also reseat your video card.
Also check in the event log there may be something in there. _________________

Have you read it? There's recommended setting for sleep/hibernate in power options and bios, there might be some pointers for you. You should try it. |
