I prefer thin sleek laptops that are powerful enough to multi-task (Visual Studio, Chrome, and Skype simultaneously). Don't plan on using it for gaming but I like fast startup and long battery life. Budget is a factor--I need to be able to appeal to the sponsors.

you know that today a 1.3 dual core procesor is shit right?

I mean.. my laptop which is 2 years old already is a 2.4 core 2 duo which is more than twice as fast

and for that price.. is a no. with just a little more you could be buying an alienware

(( btw my laptop is the alienware m15x ))

The only difference between the two are screen sizes, in which one is 13.3" while the other is 14" (battery life difference ~ 15-30 minutes). Both of them has excellent battery life exceeding 4 hours of internet use thanks to their 8-cell batteries and switchable graphics.

Them SU processors uses less voltage which results in longer battery life, but in order to achieve that, performance is sacrificed.

The Core i3 Asus 13.3" looks like a good pick, and it's got a better warranty than the 14".

Seriously 14" maybe light when your carrying it for a minute or so, but to carry that as you travel for a long distance, it will feel like carrying like a ton of bricks.

Not to mention, you will have other items in your bag as well.
