Hello.

I have Windows Vista, which automatically updates when I turn off or restart the computer.
Now, my problem is, that every time it tries to update Windows Service Pack 2, it says something like "Failed to install updates correctly. Undoing installation. Do not turn off the computer. Will update next time computer boots up."
But when it does that, it either shows the same screen forever, or it just keeps rebooting and failing to update, and rebooting, and failing to update again. I never get to the login-screen.
So than I have to do System Restore to before I downloaded the update. (by pressing F8 when the computer turns on)

So, is there any way I can fix this, or stop Windows from updating automatically?

Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services | Windows Update service set it to manual, or disable.

Also try to download and install the stand alone SP2 roll up for your version of Windows. See if that fixes the failed auto updates.
