The idea of this thread is that one person posts a nice gaming computer for under $700 and then the person under them tries to make a better computer for the same price or one of equal performance cheaper, or one of much greater performance for slightly higher. The person who builds me the best computer for my money will be rewarded with a copy of eve online via steam, or if you would like I could gift you any game that is on sale and under $8

Note: I do not need a new monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Headset.

Winner is decided after a few days when the thread dies.

Yeah you can also unlock it from a dual core to a quad core mind you.

Okay, so if you don't need a disk drive either, here's my recommendation:

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163168

Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136320

Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231274

Motherboard/Power supply combo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.494005

Video card/Processor combo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.500251

You can overclock the 955 by .2 ghz with the stock heatsink, you can even claim afterwords that it's a 965, since there wouldn't be a single difference between your processor and a 965. Since combos expire eventually, I would try to buy it as soon as possible. If you do need a disk drive, swap the hard drive out for this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136073&cm_re=caviar_blue_500gb-_-22-136-073-_-Product
and add in this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204&cm_re=asus_drw-_-27-135-204-_-Product

The build comes out to $697.

The build I suggested is the exact same one I have, i can overclock my cpu to 3.7Ghz and have 4 cores. So I think my build is the best price:performance

I disagree, the 555 is definitely the most unreliable unlocking and overclocking cpu made by amd. I would never count on it to be a quad core, you are very lucky. The 955, you can always count on being able to overclock to 4.0 and beyond, and you know you're not going to accidentally break your cpu trying to unlock it. Unlocking voids your warranty, yet another reason why I would not recommend the 555 unless you actually wanted a dual core.

Actually unlocking doesn't as they have no way as to know if you did or did not unlock it. As that is a function of the bios to "unlock" extra cores. Never the less quad cores are not that useful for gaming as most only take up to two cores. As I digress it is better to buy something that allows you to have the best price:performance either way, with a dual or a quad core.

The idea of this thread was that people would argue over who had the best build... thats not really happening...

We are not arguing, just conversing about the general nitpicks of computer builds.

That's because I don't really want to argue with Saifallofjmr. My build is definitely the most powerful of the ones in this thread, but he claims his has better price/performance ratio. I don't really know what to say to him. You can make your own decision, I suppose. I still, obviously, think that my build is better both ways.

Actually Phox a gtx 460 does perform better or equal to a 5830 if you overclock it correctly (850 core and 2000mhz memory). Whilst you select same memory (1333mhz) and same cpu IF you can successfully unlock the cpu.

Source: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/171?vs=180

See does better than the 5830 in all but one test (left 4 dead 1).

I don't intend on over clocking anything, I don't want to risk breaking something.
