Crazy person predicted it and on the wrong date. It has been revised back to a later date but when it doesn't happen in 2012 it will be revised to another later date and this will continue. Also a polar shift would not destroy humanity. |
About the polar shift. It CAN be able to destroy humanity, but that depends at the speed of the shift. _________________

Underground, interesting subject though.
Google Nasa earth rotation stopping
For some NASA answers to the question. _________________

Where I live if we had 6 solid days of sun light and the temperature was 100 degrees during summer, the place would burn. On hundred degree days here it reaches 90 by 9 am. Do the math. |

You sure bro?
Now other than that, the earth itself stopping might fuck some shit up if it's a sudden stop.
But I don't think that would be the way it works.
Now also, to disprove this retarded argument altogether, take a good look at any other planets in the solar system.
Theoretically they MUST have undergone this "sudden stop" when their magnetic fields changed. Now those planets don't have active plate tectonics, which means that, things like half the planet being frozen and the other half being burned would leave a mark that we could notice.
we don't so this entire argument you're putting up is just hypothetical. |

Oh yeah! The good old apocalypse theory. They will never get bored with it. And there will always be "choosen ones" to lead/warn/save us from certain destruction (and most of them will need our money to save us). People who want to be special not just nobody...
When will we be threatened to die again after 2012? In 2015 or 2016? Or maybe we can live our boring life until 2020? 2020 is a very friendly number. I think it will be a popular "worlds end" year. But also, 2016 is charming too. And it is closer then 2020. _________________

| I'm pretty sure the earth is going through a polarshift right now. If I recall correctly it happens around once every 1000 years or so. |

If it is true, the human race has survived at least 1000 polarshift in the past 1 million years without any noticable problems. If a cataclysm would have happened in 1010 and in every 1000 years before, we would know about that, it wasn't so long ago.
If it is not true, than it will not happen right now just in a minute. Major changes like this would take time.
So either way, we are safe I guess. If not, I will just die with the rest of You. _________________

Hah this has just made me realize it's kind of pointless talking about the end of the world. If nothing happens life will go on if it does happen there isn't a damn thing we can do to stop it. |

Except evacuating the whole planet to a space base in the next year.
So I start packing my stuff. _________________

All planets in our solar system rotate, the closest is the moon otherwise none are stationary. Plate tectonics has ZERO to do with a magnetic field. We have plate tectonics due to our planet having a molten heavy metal core, the heavier stuff sinks, the lighter stuff rides on top.
We also have a magnetic field due to this large mass of molten metal within the planet.
Without the rotation of the planet we would not fly off into space. The earth has mass, it is this mass that holds us to it, nothing to do with rotation. That affects our climate more than anything else. We would fly off in the event of a sudden stop in the earths rotation. You don't go from 1000+ mph to 0 without having a side effect.
And we already see evidence of what light and dark do on other planets.
Take the moon as an example. Yes I know there is no atmosphere or ozone to block cosmic rays, but still we see during day 260° Fahrenheit and -280° Fahrenheit on the dark side. So it the effects of constant day is clear. Those can say "what about the poles they get 24/7 light". You are right they do, but they do not burn due to their orientation to the sun. They get glancing sunlight not direct. Which means that efficiency wise it is not enough radiant heat to do any damage. Let's say in your location during the summer is where this massive change happens. Think about how hot it is between the morning when the sun is just rising to when it's at it's zenith. That is probably 20° or more temperature difference, I know where I live we can see a 40° to 50° variation on occasion. The position of the sun over your area, compounded by the fact that there will be no night to balance out the temperature, combine that with sunlight refracting of the earths surface and bouncing off the atmosphere (greenhouse effect). It would heat up quickly. _________________

The Moon is rotating too.
| Quote: | | The Moon is in synchronous rotation: it rotates about its axis in about the same time it takes to orbit the Earth. This results in it nearly always keeping the same face turned towards the Earth. |

If I remember correctly, the idea of the existence Niburu was taken from the Sumerians, and the concept of 12/21/12 was taken from the Mayan calendar. Now, I realize that both of these civilizations were gifted in the field of astronomy, but the idea that they could predict the "end of the world" seems unlikely, and even if it were true, the concept of our space programs not currently knowing about it seem even slimmer. Maybe I am just a skeptic though, but I think it's all a bunch of fuss over nothing.
At the end of the day though, what does it really matter? We can be concerned about it or shrug it off, when that day gets here, we'll either go through some cataclysm or won't, it's nothing that you can be prepared for. |

Actually I think about the Mayan calendar like this.
Hundreds of years ago, in a Mayan city:
Maya Dude 1: Hey, let's make a calendar.
Maya Dude 2: Cool idea. How far should we calculate it?
Maya Dude 1: 100 hundred years maybe?
Maya Dude 2: Alright, let's get started.
A bit later...
Maya Dude 1: Alright, we have done it.
Maya Dude 2: Yeah, it was fun. Why don't we write it further? Another 100 years?
Maya Dude 1: Guess we have the free time.
Again a bit later...
Maya Dude 1: Awesome, we have made a calendar which will be good for 200 years forward.
Maya Dude 2: Yeah, but I heard the guiness record is 300 years.
Maya Dude 1: Oh, we can beat it. Let's get to it again.
After a few hours have passed...
Maya Dude 1: 301 years. We have beaten the record, but we have to set up a new record as high as possible.
Maya Dude 2: Sure, let's continue.
After a few days of hard work...
Maya Dude 1: It is done until 2012. I am really bored with it now.
Maya Dude 2: Yeah, me too.
Maya Dude 1: Should we continue?
Maya Dude 2: Nope, it is done for hundreds of years, someone will continue if it is needed. We have done our part.
Maya Dude 1: Yeah, probably they will not even remember us by then. Who will care about our crappy calendar anyway? It will long be forgotten by then.
Maya Dude 2: Let's do something else. I heard there will be a party to honor the new visitors from Europe or what. Guess they will show us their lightning rods and other cool weapons. With such awesome weapons, they can't be bad guys.
Maya Dude 1: Yep, the one who likes awesome weapons, can't be a bad man.
They have gone to the party and never returned. Guess they shouldn't have trusted those European guys.
A few hundred years have passed...
And another few hundred....
In the year of 2000...
Dude 1: Hey, look what I have found.
Dude 2: Now what is it again?
Dude 1: Some awesome calendar from the past.
Dude 2: Oh boy oh boy. Coooool. Hey tell me which day will be on the first day of 2013.
Dude 1: Ok. ... Hey I can't. This has been made until 2012 only.
Dude 2: Hey why? OH NO! This can mean only one thing.
Dude 1: Were they lazy to continue?
Dude 2: No it means that they have seen the future. Nothing will be after 2012.
Dude 1: What do You mean by "nothing"?
Dude 2: I mean we are all gonna fuckin DIE!
Dude 1: Dude, You are overreacting.
Dude 2: Think what You want, I will warn everyone! The End is near.
Dude 1: Nobody will listen to such bullshit.
Dude 2: We shall see my friend... We shall see...
Dude 2 has left and now, we can see what are the results. Crappy posts about apocalypse in 2012 because some Mayan guys were bored with making calendars already. _________________

Broski I mentioned plate tectonics to say that those planets don't change, hence the evidence of polar shifts on them wouldn't disappear.
Also, you JUST said the moon rotates. Then you go into how one side is extremely cold and one isn't. Meng 'fuck's going on here.
It wouldn't heat up extremely.
You did not respond to my point about this whole argument being hypothetical. |

There wont be a planet crashing us on 2012, but the universe is full of mystery and unpredictable, things can happen within 1 second and the world could end
still apart from natural apocalypse, I doubt osama bin laden isnt holding a nuke waiting for 2012 to detonate
and even if the polar shift is going to happen, it would seem impossible for it to suddenly change to cause any serious damage, the earth's crust is changing by 1 degree every million year, and the rate is so slow and normal its not a threat we have to worry about |
