I used to be a christian, and I can answer that question.
First, a quick description of the bible.
It's a very boring and long book horribly disfigured from mass translations. Shit was lost, shit was added, but no matter how you look at it shit isn't real. It starts with the first testament, or "volume". In the first testament, god is fucking angry for no reason and start burning shit like mad. He turns into a flaming bush and tells people what to do, even though everyone is scared fuckshits of a flaming bush talking to them. He finds someone crazy enough to believe in what a bush says, and follows his orders. His commandments get told and then for no reason god suddenly hates people and floods the shit out of the place. Did I mention that there were no dinosaurs ever in the existence of the earth? W/e. Second testament sucks because god stopped giving a shit about people and started do nice things or nothing at all. W/e, fuck him.

Tl;dr, Christians don't see anything in it except the fact that it was written a long time ago, so they believe it.

most of Christians don't ever really read the bible, not even half of it.

I'm atheist and was raised in a catholic San Frasis order school.
I did read at least 3/4 of the bible and I can tell you it haves some interesting stories. what Catholics see in the bible is mostly moral rules to stay in an ordered society. Helps people to distinguish good from bad. About believing in a god or not, the bible would really put who reads it in question only who people who initially believes in a god. For the eyes of an atheist it is just a book like harry potter but the intention of that book is not entertaining but learning about morals.

Fuck no. Not for me and my greek orthodox family. It's always like fear fucking god or else you'll get burned 7 times with mistakes or some shit. Of course it's that very thought that makes you uneasy, which makes you do more mistakes. Can't blame them for trying though.
